Major tourist attractions are easily reached by foot (Piazza San Marco, 15 minutes; Campo San Polo, 5 minutes; Basilica and Campo dei Frari, 8 minutes; the less noted but beautiful Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio with its ancient church, 5 minutes). The closest vaporetto (ferry) stop on the Canal Grande is four minutes by foot (and only two bridges!).
Piazzale Roma (car and bus park) and the Train Station (Ferrovia) are easily reachable by vaporetto in 10 minutes. They are reachable by foot in about the same time, but only the lightest travelers with good shoes should do so; there are quite a few bridges to cross. The Airport is easily reachable by public transport in about 45 minutes.
